If you enjoy puttering around your garden, why not dig in to help our local coastal edens, from Tomales Bay to Pacifica. Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (which despite its name does not include Golden Gate Park) is always eager for volunteers.
The Conservancy helps maintain over 80,000 paradisical acres. Their most obvious success story is the restoration of Crissy Field but their ongoing green volunteering programs include trail building, planting, native nurseries and protection of rare and endangered species. They welcome drop-ins but are particularly accommodating to people who want to commit themselves to longer term activities.
It’ s educational, social and downright gorgeous.
