Out of the gazillion coffee houses in the SF Bay Area, the one at Greens restaurant in Fort Mason has to be the most spectacular. Every morning starting at 8 they serve the usual coffee beverages and a skimpy menu of muffins and scones. For no extra cost you get an eye-opening view of the Golden Gate. Light pours in through the windowed wall of the cafeteria size space. You forget to look at the person conversing with you and gaze raptly out at our gorgeous Gate. It’s soothingly quiet. Not only are there not the usual battalions of laptoppers, there is almost no one at all. The place is, for the time being, most days nearly empty. Mornings only.
