Interested in cultural activities but not museum mobs? In Geyeserville the voluptuous 100 acre Oliver Ranch is studded with works by Andy Goldsworthy, Richard Serra and Bruce Nauman among others. The hitch is that 2-hour tours will be held only from September 15 to November 1 and visitors must donate a minimum amount to a non-profit group of their choice . For details visit:

Things are similarly exclusive in the City on Pier 24 where a private photography museum has opened directly under the Bay Bridge. It’s an extraordinary space and a staggeringly impressive collection. However the current show has just closed and the new one doesn’t open until September. Only 20 or so visitors are allowed at a time for 2 hour curator-led tours. It’s by reservation only so book now at:
