Try really spectacular Bay Area country living. The cabins at Steep Ravine perched off Highway 1 a mile south of Stinson Beach provide stunning views of the Pacific, whale watching in the spring and glimpses of the Farallones when the fog lifts. It’s a rustic R&R. The 17 awesome accommodations here don’t have electricity of running water. Up a path is running water and composting toilets. Down a path is a beach where rocks at its north end at low tide reveal a hot springs. A very hard-to-get reservation, it’s recommended that you sign up at 8 am on the first day of the month, 7 months before you plan to go. No kidding. Though you can also check for last minute cancellations.$75 a night. No pets.
