After a wet winter, Mt. Diablo’s Donner Canyon Trail passes over more waterfalls than anyplace we know of in the Bay Area. Don’t let the name panic you. Being only 5 miles long, it is unlikely to lead to episodes of cannibalism. Parts are steep and definitely muddy, but the splashing waterways and fields of wildflowers, especially the paintbrush right now, are more than worth it.
