Bay Area seniors, please take a deep breath. June 22 -26 is the annual Lavender Festival at the Ceago Winery on the shores of Clear Lake. Managed by the Fetzer family, pioneers of organic, biodynamic and rather tasty wines including Chardonnays, Syrahs, Merlots and Cabs, the grounds stretch 2 miles along the lake front, studded with fountains, olive groves, a sprawling estancia and wandering flocks of sheep. For the Festival, they will be distilling their French Lavender Grosso. It’s so convenient to get there, they even offer landings for your seaplane. If you can’t tear yourself away, Ceago has two studio casitas (starting at $285 with a 2-night minimum) and a luxury villa ($495 with a 2-night minimum). Ceago is a far cry from the biker/RV image most of us old timers picture when we think of Clear Lake. Free.
