The senior who has left the most  indelible and digestible mark on Bay Area life is celebrating her 40th anniversary next month. Alice Waters, whose Chez Panisse restaurant is the mother ship of California Cuisine (local ,fresh, unfussy) will be feting herself with an ongoing series of  special events including meals cooked by  local gastronomic stars in private homes, such as a pig roast in Michael Pollan’s backyard, and a Shrimp Boil chez Alice herself. Quite pricey. $500-$2,000 per person with proceeds going to the Edible Schoolyard Foundation.
