Bay seniors were ready to stage an Occupy BART protest when word leaked out that senior discounts (the green tickets that give us $25 worth of rides for $9) were being phased out. But you can put your tents away. The phase out has been delayed indefinitely. There is, however, a definite push to nudge us all into using much more permanent Clipper cards. I found the site confusing so I went to a BART station where I was instructed on how to apply for the card and received one on the spot. You can also do it online, at Walgreens and at selected BART stations at specified hours. And yes, we will continue to receive the same generous discount. Clipper cards are also accepted on Muni, AC Transit, Caltrain and the Golden Gate Ferry.
