Bay seniors who fancy spending the night in an impeccably restored inn in the middle of a 1400 acre national park don’t have far to go. Scheduled to open on April 1 (no fooling) the Inn at The Presidio has 22 rooms, 17 of which are one-bedroom suites. Rooms on the third floor come with wide-screen views of the Bridge and the Bay. Children under 12 are free. Pets (Let’s assume dogs, not anacondas) are welcome. Prices range from $195-$350 and apparently most weekends this summer are already booked. Why is this commercialization of the Presidio happening? When Congress originally allocated funds for its purchase, the agreement required that the Presidio must be financially self-sufficient by 2013.
