Bay Area seniors know the pride I take in not repeating recommendations but bear with me while I remind you that Lady Washington will be back on the Bay this month. She is an absolutely authentic 68 foot reproduction of an 18th century brig. A veteran of the film “Pirates of the Caribbean”, she bounds across the Bay on voyages from Oakland to Sausalito, Sacramento and Half Moon Bay. The crew encourages you to help hoist sails and steer. But the capper comes March 9-19 when you can pack up your daring grandkids and head out to a mock three- hour naval battle with hand-to-hand combat and cannons booming. The only way it could be more fun is if you were captured by pirates.
