Bay seniors with roots in the Midwest, or memories of any 1950’s country club anywhere, will have a massive culinary flashback at Orinda’s 70-year old Casa Orinda restaurant. Portions are ginormous, The menu has 7 kinds of veal, eggplant parmigiana, shrimp cocktails, fabulously tender fried chicken and a couple of dozen other deliciously retro dishes. The place’s origin as a cowboy bar is still honored with walls of pistols and wagon wheel chandeliers. It is, unsurprisingly, mobbed and reservations are definitely encouraged.
