Bay seniors who love checking out new artists but balk at visiting open studios that sprawl all over town (hello, Oakland), might want to head to Hunters Point Studios Saturday and Sunday April 28 & 29. Although the event has its share of kitsch there are a handful of serious artists that you can check out in advance on the website. Since you are buying direct from the artists prices are likely to be lower. Admission and parking are free.

While you’re in the neighborhood (becoming hipper quicker than anyone expected) check out the intriguing Flora Grubb nursery and various shops and restaurants in Dogpatch.
