Bay seniors have understandably entrenched loyalties to certain pizzerias. Miniscule differences in the width of crusts and the depth of deep dishes loom hugely over peoples’ choices. In the Bay Area we’ve gotten way beyond pepperoni. A few years ago I would have given Berkeley’s Cheese Board my vote. Especially any time they offered their corn and feta. But my zeal wavered when I started trying Gioia (pronounced Joy-ah) on Hopkins Street. Their mushroom pizza is irresistible. And now that Gioia has opened on Polk in San Francisco, city Geezers can see if they agree with me. Anyone else out there want to weigh in with their pet pizza?
