Bay seniors with a morbid curiosity in off-beat burial sites might want to consider a tour of the Neptune Society’s Columbarium. You’ve seen it for years, a classical circular building off Geary Boulevard in the Richmond. Inside are over 8,500 niches that collectively house the cremated remains of more than 40,000 ex-San Franciscans. A particular fascination are the mementos decorating the niches including considerable Giant paraphenalia, Barbie dolls, Hot Wheel cars and other bizarre tchotchkes. Open 7 days a week. Free.
