Bay seniors on the lookout for a nice long FLAT hike that never stops need only set foot on the Bay Trail that encircles much of the Bay. Started in 1990, the organizers hope to eventually open our 500 mile shoreline to the public. Currently 60% is completed, principally San Francisco and San Pablo Bays. The Peninsula and South Bay both have brief stretches of available trail but usually on a city by city basis. You can find maps of them on the Bay Trails website. Even the current uncompleted Trail now gives you access to 57,000 acres of open space. Free, of ourse.
