Bay senior tennis afficionados facing the bitter truth of knee replacements, have a quasi-embarrassing option in the new sport of pickleball (who came up with that ridiculous name). The net is lower, the court is smaller, the racket is bigger and the ball is 1/3 the speed of tennis ones. A lot of folks are taking this seriously. There is already a USA Pickleball Association. In fact it’s one of the sports in the upcoming Bay Area Senior Games at Stanford May 18-19 and at the Wine Country Senior Games May 30-June 9. The range of activities goes from the expected (horseshoes) to the are-you-serious?( rugby).
