Bay seniors harboring serious concerns about America’s ability to innovate are invited to the San Mateo County Events Center this weekend for the annual Maker’s Faire (don’t ask me why they spell their name in Middle English). 900 exhibits showcase the DIY skills of hugely imaginative techies. There’s a robotics competition, drone games, hacker races, even a human-sized mousetrap, as well as classes in soldering and lock picking. Adult tickets are $30 in advance for a one-day pass. A great adventure to share with your brilliant grandchildren. Kids $27 to $39.

  1. Thanks for spreading the word on the Maker Faire! There truly is something for everyone there. A point of clarification, though: adult tickets are $55 in advance for both days, or $30 in advance if you’re only interested in checking out one day. Hope to see you there!
