Bay seniors’ grandkids who fantasize about the old west (rather than new galaxies) will love being held up by bandits on the trains this summer at Roaring Camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Part of the hour-long excursion on these historic railroads are staged shootouts between lawmen and crazed gunmen. Roaring Camp was built in 1830. In 1867 its old growth redwoods were the first stand protected against lumber activities. There are railroad related activities weekly here. The Great Train Robberies occur on June 16 (Father’s Day), July 4th and Labor Day Weekend. Adults $26. Children $10.
