Bay seniors on the lookout for a respite from Napa Valley’s summer gridlock should head east to Pope Valley, a few miles off the Silverado Trail up Deer Park Road. It’s a country drive back in time. The Valley has the scrub oaks and rolling hills of Montana Cattle country. No bistros, no tourists, a single winery and one eccentric California Historic Landmark – Litto’s Hubcap Ranch. Litto Damonte started decorating his place with hubcaps in 1935 and his grandson is still at it. At the moment there are over 5,000 hubcaps adorning the property. If you visit bring one to add to the collection. Free.
