Bay seniors are wrong if they think we have no beach resorts here. Not only do we have one but it’s public and full of amenities you’d never expect. McNears Beach, a Marin County Park, comprises 55 lush acres including a pool right on the Bay, tennis and volley ball courts, picnic areas, hiking trails, a fishing pier, even a (somewhat pebbly) beach. There are no camping facilities. Parking is $10. Swimming $5 per person. No dogs. If you’re willing to drive an hour or so further, a beach option great for young grandkids thanks to its shallowness and lack of waves is Heart’s Desire on Tomales Bay just north of Inverness. Parking $8.
