Bay seniors, heading out to the countryside, understandably may decline to rough it like they used to. An hour east of the city in Livermore’s Del Valle Regional Park, almost 5,000 golden California acres, sits a 5-mile lake where you can rent a variety of boats including this year’s newest vessel, a deluxe sun cruiser. It accommodates 12 and includes leather seats, canopy, CD player, requires a $350 deposit and costs $100 for a 2-hour minimum. Top speed is a lazy 10mph. The lake is plentifully stocked with trout for anglers and campsites are available. Yes, it does get hellishly hot out here but there is a quick solution – go jump in the lake. Park entrance fee $6. Sadly, no dogs.
