Bay seniors who feel strongly that being cool does not have an age cut off, might consider joining in the free celebration of City Lights Books’ 60th Anniversary this Sunday. It’s from 2-4 in the store’s longtime location in Kerouac Alley in North Beach. It’s sponsored by the 851 Reading Series, a group that describes itself as an “autonomous literary squat zone”. Lawrence Ferlinghetti, City Lights’ founder, is still an active poet and publisher at age 94. His current project is creating a Poets Plaza in the neighborhood. By the way, the release date of the DVD of yet another failed attempt to film “On the Road” is August 6th.
