Bay seniors fleeing coastal fog can shed their scarves, sweaters and parkas 28 minutes away at the reliably sunny Lafayette Reservoir just off Highway 24 on the other side of the Caldecott. The 2.7 mile trail is fairly flat for senior hiking. If you’re more ambitious try the 4.7 mile rim trail. Or if moving is not in your plans there’s fishing off the piers (catfish and bass), playgrounds, picnic areas and rental boats. Parking is $7. Open every day but avoid the mobbed weekends. In a major reversal of trends at Bay Area parks, dogs (on leashes) are allowed here. Woof.
