Bay seniors whose education in California history ended when they built a cardboard mission in 3rd grade, might want to fill in a big knowledge gap by visiting the town of Locke in the Sacramento Delta. Built in 1915 by the growing Chinese community, it thrived until 1950. There were 1500 residents then. Today there are 70. Practically a ghost town, it is an unselfconscious historical site preserving memories of Chinese railroad and levee workers as well as gambling dens and brothels.
