Bay seniors never tire of spring in California when, despite the drought, our rolling, bosomy hills turn an Emerald City green. Driving up 101 in Marin is an especially lush, celadon treat. To get closer to all this gorgeousness the Geezer recommends you turn west on Lucas Valley Road and take an hour or so hiking the 3-mile round-trip Big Rock Trail. It’s narrow and rolls gently upwards to its 1895 foot peak, the 2nd highest in Marin. You will get a breath-catching Bay panorama as well as a birds-eye view of part of Skywalker Ranch, George Lucas’ 800 acre gift to Marin. Keep alert for dirt bikers.
