Bay seniors who have never celebrated New Year’s in Tijuana can do so any night of the week in the Mission District’s resuscitated La Rondalla restaurant. Before it closed in 2007 it’s flamboyant décor, full mariachi band and heavy-duty Tex-Mex menu were some of the few reasons to venture south of Market at night. In it’s new iteration the menu and the band have been scaled down but the general air of raucous partying goes on as if it as never stopped. Meanwhile over at the main branch of the SF Library an exhibit of mid-century Chinese-American nightclub life is another reminder that the current non-stop social life of the city is nothing new. Runs through July 6.
