Bay seniors who suspect they are living in the wrong century may want to try out life in the Jane Austen era. The Bay Area English Regency Society holds balls, picnics and readings. Their next dance, with live music, is on September 12 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Palo Alto. $10. On October 11 they will be holding their Waverly Ball in San Mateo celebrating the 200th anniversary of Sir Walter Scott’s novel “Waverly”. $20. For a more cerebral focus on Mr. Darcy, the Bennett Family, et al you may want to consider joining the local chapter of the Jane Austen Society of North America which meets quarterly.
