It is named not have Julia Child but Julia Morgan the architect who designed this stunning building which opened as the Berkeley City Club in 1930. The restaurant’s new chef serves gently priced California-French cuisine for lunch and dinner. If you are caught up in the romantic mood here, you can spend the night as it is also a hotel. Built in the Moorish-Spanish style reminiscent of 1920’s Hollywood as well as Hearst Castle, it is a wonderland of tiles, ornate woodwork,  baroque ironwork, lush courtyards, an indoor pool and is deservedly on the National Historic Register.
