Bay seniors better get in line if they want to visit one of the city’s most idiosyncratic art projects, 500 Capp Street in the Mission. It was the home and studio of the late great conceptual artist David Ireland. He bought this ramshackle place in 1975 and instead of stripping away its years of wear, he covered the walls with dense layers of polyurethane so it began to glow like the celebrated Amber Room of Catherine the Great. 90-minute artist-led tours January 15 – March 19. Seniors $15.
