Bay seniors know better than to think magnolias are just a phenomenon of the former Confederacy. The SF Botanical Garden,in fact, has 100 rare varieties of these plants, including ones up to 80 feet tall, whose sweetly fragrant flowers are now exploding in pink and white splendor. Stop by for free guided tours every Saturday. On February 22 there will be a Magnolias by Moonlight tour from 6-8. The moonlight is not guaranteed so bring a flashlight. Non-members $25.
