Point Reyes is more than a white-cliffed, windy replica of the coast of Scotland. Take Palomarin Trail off Bolinas’s Mesa Road and go north for 2 or three easy, rising miles among verdant vegetation until you arrive at Bass and Pelican Lakes, set like gemstones in the dark forests. If the day is warm Bass is great for an exhilarating swim.Another less visited, scientifically important site is the nearby 1929 art deco Marconi Wireless Station that, in its day, was as historic as today’s world wide web.
