Party like you are in the Netherlands on April 28 from noon to 5 in the far western corner of Golden Gate Park where the local Dutch Consulate is sponsoring the same national holiday celebrated between the canals of their native land. We already have two windmills there to catch the zephyrs blowing in from Ocean Beach – the Queen Wilhelmina and the newly restored Murphy. The day starts with a bike ride where everyone wears orange, then a “vrijmarket” (a children’s toy exchange) followed by Dutch children games like zaklopen, krooweppen and prik(courtesy of the Dutch Children’s School in Silicon Valley), plus a lengthy array of food booths with delicacies like pofferties (micro pancakes) and mobowl (sateh plus pickled herring). No clogs required.
