Monday is the final day to see “A Figure Apart”, a splendid retrospective of Nathan Oliveira’s painting and sculpture at the Napa Valley Art Museum in Yountville. He was an Oakland born artist, studied at CCAC and as one of the leading exponents of the expressionist Bay Area figurative movement which was surprisingly overshadowed by the arrival of Pop Art. His soft, richly colored, dreamy, almost Giacometti like work is one of the treasures of midcentury creativity. $5 for seniors. If you miss it you can hopefully find his art occasionally exhibited at ┬áthe Oakland Museum of California.
