It’s not as rugged as Point Reyes or as dramatic as Big Sur, but the Sonoma coast has 17 miles of oceanic pleasures between Jenner and Bodega Bay. Sonoma Coast State Park is a non-stop beach curling by rocky cliffs. A series of trails with panoramic views takes you down to secluded coves. There are campsites but reservations are required. In this crowded summer, remember it’s under 2 hours away.
