Asian art seems timeless, almost unchanging century after century, but if you want to see the profound effect American design had on two, very fine Japanese artists, you should ┬ácheck out the Asian Art Museum’s current show of Noguchi (U.S. born) and Hasegawa. They did not abandon the essential traditional forms of their art but moved them forward, both men studying and teaching in the US., reviving the simplified strengths of ancient Japanese esthetics. Running until December 8.
