Not since the days of Fillmore rock posters has the City had a defining artistic moment. But people are trying. The Festival of Light from Nov.28 to Jan.1 showcases 39 light based art installations. In Bay View 17′ high glass cylinders will be inscribed with momentos of fallen police officers. The Lumina in Yerba Buena will have a 27′ resin bubble with 22 miles of fiber optic strands. And James Turrell, the luminary of light arts, will insert a 3 story luminescent opening in the SF Federal Building. This dazzle glows all December.
