Baseball, as it was played in 1886, will be revived this Sunday at noon at Big Rec Field in Golden Gate Park. It’s the Opening Day of Vintage Baseball where the pitchers (called “hurlers” back then) throw from a box 50 feet from home plate. The local league, making everything as historically accurate as possible, play with small gloves and large wooden bats. Umpires wear fancy hats and are addressed as “sir”. Free. 5 other vintage baseball games will be played around the Bay Area that day.
